16/07/2015 - Bundoran set for Carnival Weekend

Bundoran Carnival Weekend 379 x 269

Preparations are in the final stages for this weekend’s 2nd annual Bundoran Summer Carnival which happens across Saturday (18th) and Sunday (19th) July.

With weather conditions looking favourable there are lots of events for the whole family including carnival workshops, a carnival parade, sandcastle competition, vintage car display, street party with bouncy castles and a massive fireworks display on Saturday night.  Year two of the event has seen the amalgamation of the fireworks weekend with the street party and vintage car show to make one super weekend in Ireland’s Premiere Seaside Resort.

Bundoran Tourism Officer Shane Smyth said “We’re very excited for the weekend’s events and we hope that everyone will have a great time.  There will be a number of traffic restrictions during the weekend particularly on Sunday as Main Street is partially closed to facilitate the Street Party. All of these are outlined on our website www.discoverbundoran.com/carnival”.

The hugely successful fireworks display returns for a second year and will once again happen on Saturday evening with the pre-show starting at 10pm at Main Beach Car Park.  We’d like to emphasise to spectators that the best place for viewing the fireworks display will be at Main Beach Car Park which will provide optimal viewing for it as well as being able to hear the soundtrack.  There will be no viewing from the Great Northern Hotel on Saturday night.

For the classic car enthusiast Bundoran will be the place to be on Sunday afternoon as the Donegal Vintage & Classic Car Club take over the West End Car Park (beneath Bay View Terrace) with a wide variety of classic and vintage cars on display from 12pm to 4pm.   Thereafter from 4 to 8pm Main Street will be taken over by bouncy castles and lots of family friendly attractions for all the family to enjoy free of charge.  Details of road closures and diversions are available on the website above.
